It has been said that success is on the same road as disappointment and failure -- it is but a few steps further along. Carolann Bosett knows this to be true, through personal experience. Growing with one relationship at a time!
A family breakup when she was nine left the young Hamiltonian without the stability of a family life. A car crash at 16 further complicated her life. In the '70s, she completed a four-year course for Interior Design and soon after, she found work as an Interior Designer for an architectural firm in Toronto. Bosett later developed a chronic illness that left her without a career for the next 10 years.
In 1994, still determined to work, she upgraded her computer and administrative skills in Hamilton. Bosett placed her resume on a job-search website and was contacted by Sign Company to work as a District Manager for the Hamilton area. Five years later, she increased sales in the Hamilton area from 89 signs to 300 signs. It's not a job for the unambitious. From the time she was a child, Bosett has been developing the qualities needed to make the business a success.
Bosett developed her entire business using the concept of relationship marketing -- she goes where her target market goes. She attended the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce events and several Networking Groups, and she often took display tables so she could show off her product. She is always looking to improve her skills and career, constantly learning and growing.
When asked what investment Bosett had to make to boost sales, she replied, "My time has been the biggest investment -- time networking, following up, making new contacts and developing my market."
Throughout the years, she has won many awards Best Customer Service, Tops Sales, Best Marketing and Corporate Fellowship. She has also been awarded Notable Networker several times.
She is also a dedicated volunteer for several charities. Attending so many different events and being the go-to person has helped build her own business. It seems it's not the love of sales but the love of people that has made Bosett so successful.
"I have met so many people and made so many friends in the past years" she explains. "It's the people that make my job so much fun. I have helped so many businesses grow with signage, referrals and information provided.”
